Well, I saw my doctor yesterday and he prescibed me Probenicid, Allop 100mg and gave me a script of Oxycodone and Colchicin in case of a flare up. I already have Indocen from my last flare up left. He told me to take the probencid for two days before starting me on allop 100mg. I took a blood test yesterday and have another rescheduled in 3 weeks. He said he would work me up to 300 mg allop and see how I did. Does this sound like a decent plan of attack? How soon can I expect a gout flare up from the allop?

It sounds quite reasonable with one exception. I dislikee the idea of 100 mg. allopurinol to start. It just is not enough for most of us and can cause more problems than it alleviates.

    Hoow much probenecid? 1000 mg./day?

He wants to make sure I don't have a reaction to the Allop. He has me taking 500mg probenicid.
