I have finally upped my Rx of allopurinol to 400 mg./day. Funny to get a bottle with a squintillion pills instead of the big 300's.

I have never gotten a urate?reading in the 4's and I think I should. All my readings bave been in the 5.3 to 6.3 range?too high.
In the 15 years I have been using allopurinol I have seen several small tophi come and go, primarily on my hands,? I have a trigger finger which may be caused by a tophus, and?my bad back has remained BAD. Given that I am 6'2″ inches? and 220# (and eat accordingly) it seems logical that I would?need more than average
What surprised me was that I thought I would have to pay for several prescriptions but yaaay, I got a month's supply for the single $5 co-pay. (Thus 360 tablets cost me $15 and it has a couple refills attached.)
