Gout Home Remedies Debate

This Gout Home Remedies discussion marks progress on reorganizing the Gout Diet Section and Improving The Gout Forum. There is an overlap between food and drink topics, and aspects of diet that can form part of your Gout Treatment. Gout Home Remedies are food or drink products that can help relieve gout pain. If our gout treatment plan is at a stage where pain relief is still important, natural products can often help. Which home remedies give you some gout pain relief? Although we must control uric acid to control gout, it can take several weeks to get uric acid down to a safe level, and several months to dissolve sufficient old uric acid crystals to remove the risk of an acute gout flare. In the meantime, we need a reliable gout treatment, or selection of treatments, to help minimize and cope with gout pain. To distinguish the different types of treatment, my gout home remedies pages explain natural pain relief products. Medical treatments, and...

Is my gout treatment plan good enough to stop pain recurring?

Hello my fellow Gout suffers! This is my first Gout forum sign up after having several attacks in the past years. I'm 25 years of age, and unfortunately I have Gout. I want to believe this all started after/during my very first job after graduating, which was a ride operator at Sea World San Diego, which required standing for HOURS. I would also like to add that, i was going out drinking at the clubs heavily, as most people my age do. I had a few attacks that never lasted as long as they do now. As more info about gout is being revealed i'm learning more and more about it. Today, i'm suffering from an attack and whould your opinion or advice if you guys don't mind; 2 months ago?( due to poor diet, in-denial, and?saying " ah..i'll work it off tomorrow " ) I developed an attack. I haven't had one in about 2 years, but i had it coming. After...

Terrors Of Tophi

Gouty tophi (singular = tophus) are lumps of uric acid crystals. They frequently form under the skin after prolonged uric acid over 6.8mg/dL. As uric acid crystals form, our white blood cells attack the invading crystals, so tophi are a mass of crystals and dead cells. Over time, these become harder, and can reduce mobility or burst through the skin, risking infection. Tophi will slowly shrink when uric acid is below the crystallization point. They shrink faster when uric acid is lower. Modern uricase treatments, such as Krystexxa (pegloticase) shrink tophi fastest. Often, gout patients have to resort to surgery, though I have seen one video where this is simply because the doctor had no idea what uric acid levels should be. See tophi discussions, old and new...

Vitamin C and Gout

Vitamin C has been recognized as having uric acid lowering properties, and is being suggested more and more as a gout treatment. Though research has covered various aspects of vitamin C and gout, there are no clear guidelines as to how much is the best dose. Neither have there been any studies into long-term aspects of vitamin C as a gout treatment. Over the years, there have been a number of forum discussions about vitamin C, and I summarize those below. I am also including all the relevant research into vitamin C, uric acid, and gout into the Treatment Of Gout Research pages. The first of these is complete at Vitamin C & Uric Acid. Vitamin C and Gout Forum Summary The old forums included the following: Paids said: I've been taking approximately 10 grams of Vitamin C a day and drinking a lot of water. I have noticed a great improvement in range of motion of my knee. And, my joints don't...

Home Cure For Gout

Today's third, and final, short gout question is home cure for gout. Strange that you don't get many people looking for "home heart surgery" or "home laser eye treatment". There's something about gout that makes us want to cure it at home. Let's face it, if your standard of gout medical care is the same as that described in some messages I get from disgruntled gout patients, then I don't blame you. But, you know, you should never (more…)...

Anyone using resveratrol for gout?

I have started tidying the gout cures pages, and looked for updates on the resveratrol research. Unfortunately, though there are more studies showing that resveratrol can lower uric acid, the studies are still on animals. I was rather hoping that some human studies would be available by now. So far, I have found nothing. if you see anything, please let me know below. Along the way, I found an interesting list of foods containing resveratrol. Here is the list from "Concentrations of resveratrol and derivatives in foods and estimation of dietary intake in a Spanish population." See the list of resveratrol food sources...
