going on 300 mg Allopurinol

HI All

After my second gout attack in November and a test that indicated I have 7.2 uric acid levels in my blood my doctor gave me 100 mg Allopurilnol.

I took it for 2 month and had another UA test last week. It showed a level of 6.89. So it show good of a lower level of UA in my blood but I underdtand that its not enough.

I gave my doctor a speech today – 20 minutes 🙂 – Thank you all for your advice and even terminology – I orepared thsi speech after reading hours postsin this forum. I think that I shocked my doctor by my level of understanding and knowladge so he looked at me and said – “so what do you suggest…” 🙂 – Sweet victory…

So I asked to increased my dosage to 300 mg Allopurinol. My question is – do you think I should take colchicine with it for a week or 2 to make sure I dont have a burst of an attack when ( and if – hopefully) the UA levels drop ?

Taking colchicine wiith it to start CANNOT be a bad idea. So yes, take one or two colchicine per day with it.
